CMF Speaker S Brings 10W Audio, Modular Controls and IP68 Protection
CMF Speaker S combines a 45mm driver, swappable controls, IP68 protection and Bluetooth 6.0. GSMArena’s hands-on finds clear midrange audio but limited bass.
CMF Speaker S Brings 10W Audio, Modular Controls and IP68 Protection
CMF's Speaker S is a compact portable Bluetooth speaker built around a 45mm full-range driver and two passive radiators. The company says the driver covers 70Hz to 20kHz and produces up to 10W RMS, putting the speaker in the small-format class rather than positioning it as a replacement for a larger room speaker.
A small speaker with a changeable face
The upright design takes inspiration from a milk carton. Its rear unlock switch lets owners remove the front panel and volume knob, allowing the modular parts to be swapped. Nothing's launch information lists dark grey, white, turquoise and orange finishes. A tactile knob handles volume and playback, while the Nothing X app adds four equalizer presets, Ultra Bass, Wide Soundstage and Adaptive Tuning modes.
Connectivity is broader than the size suggests. Speaker S supports Bluetooth 6.0, NFC tap-to-pair, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, dual-device connections and USB-C audio. Two identical units can be paired for stereo, while Party Mode uses Auracast to synchronize multiple compatible speakers.
Water resistance and battery claims
CMF rates the speaker IP68 for dust and water resistance, including submersion up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. The company claims up to 18 hours of playback at 50% volume with Ultra Bass enabled. A 10-minute charge is said to provide about one hour of listening, and a full charge takes roughly three hours.
What the hands-on review found
GSMArena's October 24 hands-on report describes the Speaker S as loud for its size, with a clear, midrange-focused presentation and strong vocal and instrumental presence. The reviewer also says the speaker lacks bass, and that Ultra Bass reduces overall sound quality rather than fixing the limitation.
Price and availability note
Nothing's launch post lists the CMF Speaker S at £49, $59 and €59, with sales through nothing.tech and selected partners. The GSMArena hands-on article quotes €69 and says the product is available in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and North America. The €59 figure is the company-posted launch price, while €69 is the amount quoted by GSMArena; the discrepancy is unresolved and regional checkout pricing may differ.
