Trump Says He Will Address Any Starlink Access Problem in Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he would intervene if problems with Ukraine’s access to Starlink communications had not been resolved. His comments came as Ukrainian officials said speed restrictions were still in place.
A promise to speak with Musk
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said he had not yet discussed the matter with SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk. He said he would speak to Musk if access had not been fixed, according to Reuters.
“If there is a problem, I’ll get it straightened out,” Trump said.
Kyiv’s account differs
Ukrainian officials said on Friday that Starlink speed restrictions remained, contradicting Trump’s earlier statement that services had been fully restored. Reuters reported that the caps had been in place since October 13, as relations between Kyiv and Washington deteriorated.
Trump’s latest remarks were a pledge to address a possible continuing problem, rather than confirmation that the restrictions had been lifted. The officials’ account and his earlier assurance therefore remained at odds in the report.
