Tech Mahindra Partners With SpaceXSI on AI Software Modernization

Indian IT-services company Tech Mahindra has partnered with SpaceXSI to help businesses modernize legacy applications and accelerate software development, the companies said in an announcement reported by Reuters.

The work will use artificial intelligence to support application modernization. Tech Mahindra also plans to bring chatbot Grok Build into industry-specific solutions. The company said the arrangement will target sectors including technology, telecommunications, banking and financial services.

A wider push into enterprise AI

Tech Mahindra already has similar agreements involving Google Gemini and Microsoft. Reuters described the SpaceXSI relationship as the first collaboration between an Indian IT major and the AI division of rocket maker SpaceX.

The practical focus is less about replacing an entire software estate at once and more about helping companies work through older applications. Legacy systems can be difficult to update because they support important business processes, use older programming languages or connect to many other systems. AI-assisted development can help teams document code, propose changes and build new interfaces, but the quality and security of any output still require human review.

What the announcement establishes

Tech Mahindra’s statement establishes a partnership and intended product focus. It does not provide a customer list, contract value, deployment timetable or measured productivity gains. Those details will matter as enterprises decide whether AI tools can move beyond pilots into regulated and mission-critical work.

The agreement also places India’s large technology-services sector in the middle of a broader enterprise-AI transition. Service providers are increasingly combining their implementation expertise with model and agent platforms to help clients connect new tools to existing systems.
