Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ Arrive With Dimensity 9500, Huge AMOLED Screens and Galaxy AI

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ Officially Launch

Samsung has officially expanded its flagship tablet lineup with the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, introducing a new generation of large-screen Android tablets aimed at productivity, creative work, entertainment and AI-assisted workflows. Both models combine Samsung's Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with MediaTek's new Dimensity 9500 chipset, Android 17 with One UI 9, an included S Pen and long-term software support.

The new generation continues Samsung's strategy of positioning the Galaxy Tab S series as more than conventional entertainment tablets. With Samsung DeX, large high-refresh-rate displays, desktop-style multitasking and a growing selection of professional applications, the company is targeting users who want a portable device that can handle work and creative tasks without moving to a traditional laptop for every job.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399.99, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199.99 in the United States. Both models are scheduled to become available from October 7, 2026, in select markets. Samsung is offering the tablets in Gray and Silver.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Gets a 14.6-Inch AMOLED Display

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra remains the largest model in the series, featuring a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2960 × 1848 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung lists peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits, while High Brightness Mode reaches 1,000 nits.

The huge display is designed for more than watching movies. Its large working area makes it suitable for multitasking, document editing, digital art, video editing and using Samsung DeX. Samsung has also upgraded its Vision Booster system to adjust brightness in real time depending on surrounding lighting conditions.

Despite the enormous screen, the Ultra measures only 5.1mm thick and weighs 692 grams in the Wi-Fi configuration. That makes the thinness one of the most notable aspects of the hardware, particularly considering the tablet carries an 11,600mAh battery.

Tab S12+ Gets a Larger 12.6-Inch Screen

The Galaxy Tab S12+ is the smaller of the two flagship models, but Samsung has increased its display size compared with the previous Plus generation. It features a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2800 × 1752 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Like the Ultra, the Plus model can reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and includes Samsung's upgraded Vision Booster technology. The slimmer bezels provide more usable screen area while keeping the overall design relatively compact.

The Tab S12+ measures 5.3mm thick and weighs 553 grams for the Wi-Fi model. Its combination of a large display and lighter body makes it a more portable alternative to the enormous Ultra without dropping down to a smaller tablet category.

Dimensity 9500 Brings a Major Performance Upgrade

One of the biggest changes inside both tablets is the move to MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, built on a 3nm process.

Samsung says the new processor delivers up to 19% faster CPU performance, 17% better GPU performance and 61% faster NPU processing compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The NPU improvement is particularly relevant to Samsung's push toward more AI-assisted functions on the tablet.

Samsung has also developed a new 3D Vapor Chamber cooling system for the series. The purpose is to move heat away from the processor more efficiently during sustained workloads such as video editing, graphics work and demanding applications.

The combination of the Dimensity 9500 and improved cooling means the S12 series is designed to maintain performance during longer workloads rather than simply delivering high peak benchmark numbers.

Storage Goes Up to 1TB

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is available in configurations reaching 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Other configurations include 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage.

The Tab S12+ comes with 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB internal storage. Both models support microSD cards up to 2TB, giving users considerably more flexibility for storing large video files, documents, photos and creative projects.

That expandable storage remains particularly useful on tablets because large applications and high-resolution media can consume internal storage quickly.

11,600mAh Battery in the Ultra

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra carries an 11,600mAh battery, while the Tab S12+ uses a 10,600mAh battery. Both support 45W wired charging.

Samsung claims up to 23 hours of battery life for the Tab S12 Ultra and up to 21 hours for the Tab S12+ under its stated testing conditions. The company also says the tablets can charge from zero to 100 percent in approximately 95 minutes using a 45W adapter.

The battery capacities are substantial, but the large AMOLED panels and powerful processors mean actual endurance will vary considerably depending on brightness, applications, network connectivity and workload.

Galaxy AI and Android 17

Software is another important part of Samsung's new tablet strategy. Both models ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, bringing Samsung's latest interface and Galaxy AI features to the large-screen form factor.

Samsung is positioning the tablets around AI-assisted productivity, including functions that can help with notes, information handling and creative workflows. The combination of Galaxy AI, S Pen input and a large display gives the tablets a different workflow from smartphones, particularly when users are working across several applications.

Samsung is also promising seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, giving the tablets an unusually long official software-support window.

S Pen Comes in the Box

Both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ include an S Pen as standard. The stylus is designed for handwriting, drawing, precise editing and navigation.

One notable change is that the included S Pen does not support Bluetooth Low Energy, according to Samsung's specifications. That means some Bluetooth-dependent functions associated with older S Pen implementations are not available, but the core pen-input experience remains central to the tablets.

For students, artists and professionals who regularly annotate documents or create handwritten notes, the bundled stylus adds considerable functionality without requiring a separate purchase.

Cameras and Audio

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 13MP main rear camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the Tab S12+ uses a 13MP rear camera. Both models have a 12MP ultrawide front camera, designed in part for video calls and large-screen collaboration.

Samsung has also upgraded the audio system. Both tablets feature quad speakers with four-channel spatial audio, twice the number of audio channels used by the previous generation according to Samsung. The upgrade is designed to provide a wider and more immersive sound experience when watching videos, listening to music or following tutorials.

Ultra-Thin Design With IP68 Protection

Samsung has kept the premium aluminum construction and extremely thin profile that define the flagship Galaxy Tab line. The Tab S12 Ultra measures only 5.1mm thick, while the Plus model is 5.3mm.

Both tablets also carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, adding protection that is useful for everyday environments. As with any IP rating, this is based on controlled testing and should not be interpreted as making the tablets completely immune to water or dust damage.

Connectivity varies slightly between models. The Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Plus offers Wi-Fi 6E, and 5G versions are available depending on market and configuration. Bluetooth 6.0 is supported across the series.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ Price

In the United States, Samsung has set the starting prices at:

Galaxy Tab S12+: $1,199.99

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra: $1,399.99

The tablets are scheduled to go on sale from October 7, 2026, in select markets. Samsung has announced Gray and Silver as the launch colors. Regional pricing and availability can vary, so the US launch prices should not be treated as official Bangladesh pricing.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra vs Tab S12+: What's Different?

The two tablets share the same Dimensity 9500 platform, 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, S Pen support, Android 17, One UI 9 and seven years of software support.

The biggest differences are physical. The Tab S12 Ultra offers a 14.6-inch display, an 11,600mAh battery, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It also gets a more advanced rear camera setup with a 13MP main sensor and 8MP ultrawide camera.

The Tab S12+ reduces the screen to 12.6 inches and the battery to 10,600mAh while keeping the same processor and core software experience. It therefore occupies a middle ground between the massive Ultra and smaller conventional tablets.

Final Look

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ represent Samsung's latest attempt to turn Android tablets into serious productivity and creative machines. The combination of Dimensity 9500 performance, high-refresh-rate Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, S Pen support, Galaxy AI, DeX and long-term software support gives both models a strong professional focus.

The Ultra remains the showcase device, with its 14.6-inch display, 11,600mAh battery, 5.1mm body and up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Tab S12+ takes a more portable approach with a 12.6-inch display and lighter body while retaining the same flagship processor and software platform.

With prices starting at $1,199.99 for the Plus and $1,399.99 for the Ultra, Samsung is clearly positioning the S12 series above conventional Android tablets. The key question for buyers will be whether the combination of large OLED displays, S Pen productivity and Samsung's software ecosystem justifies the premium over less expensive tablets.
