Apple Reportedly Developing a Larger HomeView With a Robotic Arm
Apple has only just entered the smart display market with HomeView, but a new report suggests the company is already planning a more ambitious version. The alleged device would address one of the current model’s most obvious limitations: its fixed screen.
What the reported upgrade could bring
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a higher-end HomeView with a roughly 9-inch display mounted on a motorized robotic arm. The arm could rotate the screen through 360 degrees and follow the person speaking, while also helping the device work better in different parts of a room. Apple has reportedly considered names including HomeView Max, HomeView Ultra and HomeView 360.
The project is said to carry the internal codename J595 and may arrive in 2027 or 2028. Those timing and naming details are unconfirmed, and Apple has not announced the product. The reported model would also cost more than the current HomeView, although no price has been disclosed.
How it differs from today’s HomeView
The current HomeView is a 7-inch smart display built into a speaker. It combines entertainment, video calling and smart-home controls, but its screen does not swivel. The rumored larger model should therefore be treated as a future product under development, not an announced replacement. Even the reported launch window could change, particularly because Apple’s smart-home hardware plans have previously faced delays.
