iPhone 18 Pro sales start 3.1% above last year's Pro series, Counterpoint says
Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series sold 3.1% more units globally in its first three weeks than the iPhone 17 Pro series did in the comparable period, Counterpoint Research said. China led growth at 29%, while sales fell 4% in the US and 27% in Japan. The Pro Max represented 56% of Pro-series sales, down from 57% a year earlier.
iPhone 18 Pro sales start 3.1% above last year's Pro series, Counterpoint says
Global sales of Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series were 3.1% higher in the first three weeks after launch than sales of the iPhone 17 Pro series in the same period a year earlier, according to Counterpoint Research.
China leads a mixed regional start
Counterpoint described the start as mixed, saying the phones performed well in China and India but more modestly elsewhere. China recorded the strongest growth among markets tracked, with sales up 29% from a year earlier. The research firm attributed that result partly to better early stock of the new Pro phones and higher prices for rival flagship Android models from Chinese manufacturers.
Excluding China, global growth would have been much weaker, Counterpoint said. Sales declined 4% in the United States and 27% in Japan. The new models were more expensive than their predecessors; Counterpoint said US consumers saw few meaningful improvements in features or design to justify the price, while exchange rates amplified price increases in Japan.
Pro Max remains the majority choice
The iPhone 18 Pro Max accounted for 56% of sales within the iPhone 18 Pro series, a slight decrease from its 57% share in the comparable iPhone 17 Pro period. The figures cover the launch-period comparison only, not a full quarter or complete product cycle.
