iOS 27.2 Arrives With More Siri Languages and iPhone Duo Pencil Support

Apple has released the stable iOS 27.2 update, bringing additional Siri AI languages, Apple Pencil support for iPhone Duo and a series of changes across its built-in apps. Apple's security bulletin dates the release to October 26, while GSMArena's October 27 report details the rollout and new features.

Siri expands, with hardware and regional limits

Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. The release notes reproduced by 9to5Mac list support on all iPhone 16 models and later, as well as iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. They also state that Siri AI is not available in the European Union or mainland China.

The update also lets Siri recall previous conversations and draw on more sources, including photos attached in Messages and Calendar attendees. An Excluded Apps setting controls which apps Siri, Search and suggestions may access.

iPhone Duo gets USB-C Apple Pencil support

iPhone Duo now works with Apple Pencil (USB-C), fulfilling a feature Apple had previously said would arrive later in the year. Other Pencil models, including Apple Pencil Pro, are not supported. This is a stable-release development beyond the earlier release-candidate reports.

Changes across Messages, Photos and entertainment apps

Suggestions in Messages can offer actions based on a conversation, such as creating a Calendar invitation. Shared Albums in Photos gains caption and comment editing, duplicate-photo avoidance and reminders before an album expires. Photos and Image Playground add SynthID watermark support to help identify imagery generated or modified with generative tools.

Apple TV gains Simple Profiles for separate household recommendations, while GSMArena reports that Multiview can show up to four live sports streams. Apple Podcasts separates New Episodes from Continue Playing, and Group FaceTime gains Dual Capture support. Apple Music receives a black-and-white icon and refreshed visual accents.

For compatible smart locks, the Home app adds Lock After Closing and Door Left Open options. HomePod Lock Controls requires both the iPhone and HomePod to be updated to version 27.2. The redesigned Health app seen in earlier betas did not make this release, according to 9to5Mac.

Security fixes accompany the features

Apple's bulletin lists fixes affecting areas including privacy permissions, Bluetooth access and WebKit, and identifies iPhone 11 and later as eligible for the update. That does not mean every new feature works on every eligible model. The offered version can be checked under Settings > General > Software Update.
