Three New iPads Are Reportedly Coming in the First Half of 2027

Apple's iPad lineup is reportedly in for a big first half of 2027. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, three new iPads are in the works — a new iPad Air with an OLED display, a redesigned iPad Pro with vapour chamber cooling, and a new entry-level iPad with Apple Intelligence.

The report, published in Gurman's Power On newsletter on November 1, says Apple has no new iPads planned for the second half of 2027, concentrating the year's tablet launches into the first six months. None of the three models has been announced, and Apple has not commented.

iPad Air: OLED at last

The biggest change is expected in the iPad Air, which is reportedly getting an OLED display for the first time, with an M5 chip. Samsung Display is said to be supplying the OLED panels. The 11-inch model is expected to cost around $799 to $899, putting a premium screen in the middle of the lineup — just as Apple did this month with the OLED iPad mini, which went on sale on November 6 with an A20 Pro chip.

iPad Pro: cooler under load

The iPad Pro is reportedly getting a redesign with vapour chamber cooling, which would help it sustain performance under heavy workloads such as video editing and 3D rendering. Reports differ on the chip inside — some point to the M6, others to the M7 — which suggests the Pro is still early in development or that Apple has not settled the naming.

Entry iPad: Apple Intelligence for everyone

The entry-level iPad is reportedly getting the A19 chip, which would bring Apple Intelligence to the cheapest iPad for the first time, along with Apple's N1 Wi-Fi 7 chip and the C1X modem. It would be the most significant update to the base iPad in years, and the one most likely to matter to schools and first-time buyers.

If the report is right, 2027 will be the year the iPad lineup finally goes all-OLED at the top end, with the Air joining the Pro and the new mini. But as with every Apple rumour, the details — and the dates — can change.
