Nothing's First AI-Native Product Is Coming Next Month — and It Has No Screen
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed the company's first AI-native product will launch next month. It won't be a phone and it won't be an app — the screen-less device has only been shown in a brief teaser so far, and its exact form remains a mystery.
Nothing's First AI-Native Product Is Coming Next Month — and It Has No Screen
Nothing is about to step into a new kind of product. CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the company's first AI-native device will debut next month, keeping a promise he first made more than a year ago. What the product actually is remains a secret — but Pei has already ruled out two guesses: it is not a phone, and it is not an app.
A promise made last year
Back in September 2025, Pei revealed that Nothing planned to launch its first AI-native products in 2026. Now, with the year nearly over, he has confirmed the first of them is on schedule and will arrive in December. The announcement came in an article Pei shared on X, where he also offered a few early hints about the device.
What we know about the device
According to Pei, the product has no screen at all, and it "couldn't have been an app" — suggesting it is a dedicated piece of hardware built around AI from the ground up, rather than a software feature bolted onto an existing device. A teaser image included with the announcement shows only a glimpse: a device with rounded corners and curved edges, captioned "NOTHING (R) COMING SOON". Nothing else about its design, name, or price has been shared. Pei says the product will carry the "personality and care" people associate with Nothing, and he argues the company is in a strong position to build it because it designs both its hardware and its software under one roof.
Pei's view of where AI is heading
In the same article, Pei set out his view of how artificial intelligence is expected to develop. He describes AI evolving into something that works for us, while continuing to serve as a productivity tool, and suggests new technologies typically win people over in the workplace first, before making their way into homes. The first AI-native product appears to be Nothing's bet on that direction.
Wearables may follow
Separately, Nothing is also reported to be developing AI-powered wearables, including smart glasses with and without cameras. That remains a rumour rather than anything Pei has confirmed, and it is not clear whether the glasses are connected to the device arriving next month or are a separate project entirely. For now, the mystery is the point. Nothing has built its brand on teasers, and the first AI-native product is being unveiled the same way — a glimpse of curved edges, a launch month, and little else. December should bring the full reveal.
