Huawei Mate 80 Air Tipped to Arrive on December 26 as the Slimmest Mate 80 Yet

Huawei may not be done with the Mate 80 series yet. A new rumour claims the company will unveil the Mate 80 Air on December 26 in China, adding a thinner and lighter model to a family that already includes the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.

The Mate 80 Air is described as a successor of sorts to the Huawei Mate 70 Air, which was released last year. The Mate 80 series itself was only unveiled in China a week ago, so the Air would arrive as a late addition rather than part of the main launch.

What the rumour claims

The phone is tipped to run on Huawei's Kirin 9030 chip and to feature a 6.9-inch display with a 1.5K resolution. A leaked render shows the purported phone in black, with a rounded-corner, camera-centric design said to be similar to the Mate 70 Air — though the render itself is described as only partly trustworthy.

There is no battery information and no price in the report, and no other display details have been shared.

Nothing confirmed yet

It is worth stressing how much of this is unconfirmed. The December 26 launch date, the Kirin 9030 chip, the 6.9-inch 1.5K display and the design are all rumoured or leaked claims, and Huawei has not confirmed the phone, its launch date, its specifications or its price. Until Huawei says something, the Mate 80 Air remains a rumour — but if the date is right, the wait is only a few weeks.
