Motorola Signature 27 Is Now Official With a 7,000mAh Battery and a First-of-Its-Kind Action Sensor
Following an initial announcement in September, Motorola had been teasing the Signature 27, having already confirmed Bang & Olufsen audio and shown it off in a hands-on promo video. Today, the successor to the original Signature is finally fully official, and the battery size is no longer a mystery: 7,000 mAh, 35% larger than the predecessor's.
A brighter, tougher screen
The Signature 27 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K "Extreme AMOLED Duo" screen, a tandem panel with two emissive layers, a 120Hz refresh rate and 12,000 nits peak brightness (at 1% average pixel level). Motorola says the panel is up to 34% more energy efficient and lasts up to 121% longer than the original Signature's regular AMOLED.
Flagship power and cooling
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Cooling is Motorola's "ArcticMesh", pairing a thermal gel infused with micro-diamonds with an 8,384 mm² vapor chamber, 40% larger than the predecessor's.
Cameras, including a first-of-its-kind action sensor
The main camera is a 50MP sensor with Sony's Lytia 910, LOFIC technology, an f/1.6 aperture and OIS. There is also a 200MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and up to 100x "Super Zoom Pro", plus a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus and a 122-degree field of view.
The standout is a first-of-its-kind dedicated EVS (Event Vision Sensor) action sensor. It detects pixel-level changes in light intensity separately from the other cameras and works with the Action Shot feature to freeze fast-moving subjects. The rear cameras record 8K video at 30fps and 4K at up to 120fps with Dolby Vision, and the 50MP selfie camera has autofocus and 4K recording.
Battery and charging
The 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, plus 5W reverse wireless and 4.5W reverse wired charging.
Design — bigger, not thinner
The phone measures 162.01 x 77.04 x 7.99 mm and weighs 227 g, so it is noticeably thicker and heavier than the 7 mm, 186 g original. It has an aluminum frame, a ceramic and glass build with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, IP68/IP69 ratings and MIL-STD-810H compliance. It also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a six-antenna design with Wi-Fi 8 support, and Android 17 with a promise of seven major OS updates. It is ready for Google's Gemini Intelligence features as they roll out, and has Motorola's own Qira on board.
Price and availability
The Signature 27 will be available on November 16 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, in Pantone Coal Smoke (tactical weave finish) and Pantone Capulet Olive (textile-inspired finish). The recommended retail price is $1,599 or €1,899, but some retailers and partners in select countries will get it for €1,399.
