Serve Robotics begins Australian deliveries with DoorDash on Gold Coast

Serve Robotics is taking its sidewalk delivery service outside the United States for the first time, launching in Australia with DoorDash and an initial rollout in a Gold Coast neighborhood.

The company announced the expansion on October 28 and said it would invest about $500,000 in the region over the next year, Reuters reported. The report did not specify the currency denomination for that figure.

Customers can opt in through DoorDash

Eligible DoorDash customers on the Gold Coast can choose robot delivery from participating restaurants in the app. Serve said more local restaurants would be added in the coming weeks.

The launch is an initial neighborhood rollout, not a claim that robot delivery is available throughout the city or across Australia.

Griffith University hosts the operations depot

Serve has established a depot at Griffith University for stationing, charging, dispatching and maintaining the robots. Chief executive Ali Kashani said the Gold Coast's walkable neighborhoods made it a suitable place for the company's first market beyond the United States.

The depot provides local operating infrastructure for the service as the company begins its international expansion.

An existing delivery partnership expands

Serve has worked with DoorDash in the United States since 2025. Reuters reported that its U.S. fleet now exceeds 2,000 delivery robots operating in more than 40 cities.

The Australian announcement extends that partnership into a new market. It does not establish how many robots will initially operate on the Gold Coast or provide a timetable for a nationwide rollout.
