Gen Digital raises revenue outlook as cybersecurity demand stays strong
Gen Digital raised its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast on October 28 after quarterly sales and adjusted earnings exceeded analyst estimates. Shares of the company rose about 7% in extended trading, Reuters reported.
The company behind Norton, Avast, LifeLock and MoneyLion is benefiting from demand for protection against increasingly sophisticated online threats, according to the report. Chief executive Vincent Pilette pointed to AI-driven scams and the growing use of AI agents as reasons consumers are seeking help.
Higher annual revenue forecast
Gen Digital now expects fiscal 2027 revenue of $5.465 billion to $5.515 billion. Its previous forecast was $5.375 billion to $5.475 billion, while analysts had expected annual revenue of $5.43 billion.
The new range is an outlook for the full fiscal year, not a reported annual result. It signals that management expects the momentum described in the quarterly results to continue, while remaining subject to how the rest of the year develops.
Quarterly sales and earnings beat estimates
Quarterly revenue reached $1.37 billion, above the $1.34 billion average analyst estimate compiled by LSEG, according to Reuters. Adjusted earnings were 74 cents per share for the three months ended October 2, compared with an estimate of 72 cents.
The adjusted earnings figure should not be confused with an unadjusted earnings measure. Likewise, the roughly 7% share gain describes the initial after-hours market reaction rather than a forecast of future performance.
Bookings growth across a wider business
Pilette told Reuters that Gen Digital delivered its sixth consecutive quarter of double-digit bookings growth. He also reported record customer counts and healthy retention across its cybersecurity and financial-wellness businesses; those assessments are attributed to the company.
Gen Digital describes its broader platform as bringing security, privacy, identity, reputation and financial wellness into a connected customer relationship. The latest results therefore span more than antivirus subscriptions, with MoneyLion alongside established protection brands such as Norton and LifeLock.
