Motorola Edge 70 Pro starts receiving Android 17 update in Europe

Motorola has begun a limited Android 17 rollout for the Edge 70 Pro, but the evidence currently points only to European units. GSMArena reports the package at 3.42GB and identifies the resulting software version as A171WMH.44-25. The report is based on a Reddit user’s update notification, not a published Motorola rollout bulletin.

What the reported update includes

The changelog described by GSMArena promises a fresh, expressive design, less notification clutter, faster multitasking, and enhanced protection and controls. It also lists new lock-screen clock faces, redesigned notifications and Quick Settings, a volume mixer, an updated Settings app, Live Activities for calls, music and the flashlight, a refreshed app drawer, better themed-icon support, and improved animations.

The same report says Motorola’s Qira AI agent works on the new build. Motorola’s support material confirms the Edge 70 Pro launched with Android 16. A separate GSMArena report says Motorola previously confirmed Qira would reach Signature, Razr and Edge phones with Android 17; that is context, not proof that every listed Qira capability is enabled in every market.

Rollout status

The linked Reddit post identifies the affected channel as Europe’s reteu software channel, and another commenter reported downloading it on a European 512GB/12GB model. That supports an early regional release, but does not establish worldwide availability. The sources consulted do not confirm a rollout in India, the US, China or Bangladesh, and Motorola’s upgrade guidance says release plans and timing can change. Owners can check Settings > System updates, but availability may depend on model, channel and region.
