Huawei Pura 90 Plus debuts with Kirin 9025 and variable-aperture camera

Huawei has unveiled the Pura 90 Plus in China, adding a new option between the standard Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro. Announced on October 28, the phone combines the Kirin 9025 processor with a large-format main camera and a curved 6.8-inch display.

50MP main camera with a variable aperture

The main camera uses a 50MP, 1-inch-type sensor with optical image stabilisation and an aperture that varies from f/1.6 to f/4.0. “1-inch-type” is an optical-format designation, not a literal one-inch sensor diagonal.

The rear system also includes a 48MP f/2.1 telephoto camera with OIS and macro capability, a 40MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera and a 1.5MP multispectral Red Maple colour sensor. A 13MP autofocus ultrawide camera handles selfies.

Kirin 9025, HarmonyOS 7 and LTPO OLED

Huawei’s official specifications confirm the Kirin 9025 processor and HarmonyOS 7.0. Storage options are 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

The 6.8-inch OLED panel has a 2,848 × 1,276 resolution and an LTPO adaptive refresh rate spanning 1Hz to 120Hz. It supports 1,440Hz PWM dimming and is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass. Rounded edges and a triangular rear camera housing give the Plus a different treatment from the flatter-sided Pro-family models.

Battery and connectivity

Battery capacity is 5,700mAh typical and 5,580mAh rated. The phone supports up to 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Its official specifications also list Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, dual nano-SIM support and IP68/IP69 protection.

BeiDou satellite messaging is supported, but it is a China-limited service rather than a promise of global satellite connectivity. Colour options for the China launch are Sunset Purple, Dawn Gold, Snow White and Obsidian Black.

China launch prices

GSMArena reports a starting price of CNY 5,499 for the 12GB/256GB model, rising to CNY 6,999 for 1TB storage. Those figures are China prices, not local prices for India, the United States or Bangladesh.

Retail dates differ between the launch report and the detailed specification listing, so buyers should check Huawei’s China store for the current sale status rather than treating either date as a firm shipping date.
