Xiaomi Tipped to Be Working on a Wide-Screen Candybar Smartphone

Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on a wide-screen candybar smartphone, according to a new leak reported on 4 November 2026. The report is based on a tip from Digital Chat Station, and it should be treated as a rumour, not a confirmed product.

Several smartphone brands are reportedly working on wide-screen candybar phones inspired by the Huawei Pura X View. The new rumour suggests that Xiaomi is also planning to enter the segment with its own offering.

What the rumour claims

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, an Android smartphone maker is currently testing a wide-screen candybar phone. The tipster did not explicitly name the company, but the emoji used in the post hints that the device could be from Xiaomi.

The rumoured phone is expected to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which would suit the wider frame. Its display is tipped to have a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio, similar to Huawei's Pura X View.

What is not confirmed

No model name, chipset, camera details, battery capacity, price or launch date have been reported for the rumoured phone. Xiaomi has not confirmed that it is developing such a device.

The device is understood to be in the testing stage, so there is no confirmed timeline for a launch, and it is not yet clear whether it would reach markets outside China.

Why the wide-screen idea matters

A wide-screen candybar phone would offer a broader display without a folding mechanism, giving users more room for reading, video and multitasking in a single rigid body. The idea follows the wide-screen format used by the Huawei Pura X View and by the cover displays of wide foldables.

Until Xiaomi confirms the project or more details appear in regulatory filings, the wide-screen Xiaomi phone remains a rumour.
