New OLED iPad mini’s 4,900mAh battery confirmed in Apple product sheet

The new OLED iPad mini has a rated battery capacity of 4,900mAh, according to Apple’s official product information sheet for model A3596. The document provides a cell-capacity figure that is not stated in milliamp-hours in the company’s October 26 launch announcement.

EU endurance numbers need context

The same sheet lists battery endurance of 78 hours per cycle and at least 1,000 cycles under default settings. These are results under a standardized European regulatory framework, not independent measurements of continuous gaming, web browsing or video playback.

A 78-hour label result therefore does not mean an owner can watch video for 78 hours without charging. Display brightness, network activity, apps and workload all affect the time between charges. Battery capacity is useful information, but it is not a complete battery-life verdict.

Charger and repair details

Apple’s document specifies 20W of required charger output and a USB-C receptacle. The 20W figure is a charger requirement in the sheet; it should not be read as an independently measured peak charging speed.

The record also assigns an energy-efficiency class of D and a repairability class of C, and marks the battery as not user-replaceable. Those categories describe results under the regulatory labeling system rather than a review score.

The battery sits inside a thinner redesign

Apple says the redesigned iPad mini combines an 8.5-inch OLED display with the A20 Pro chip, a 5.4mm-thin body and IP67 water and dust resistance. The company announced pre-orders from October 28 and customer availability beginning November 6.

The regulatory disclosure adds a concrete battery specification to that launch information, while real-world endurance will still depend on how the tablet is used.
