Apple's next big Siri update is its widest yet. With iOS 27.3, Siri gains 23 new languages, can take action inside Apple's apps, and opens up to every developer — while a major Siri overhaul is now expected to arrive a full year later than planned.
Apple seeded the first developer beta of iOS 27.3 on November 3, and the update is expected to reach all users in December. The Siri changes are built on the new Apple Intelligence-powered Siri, which is designed to understand personal context, see what is on screen, and take actions across apps.
23 new languages
Siri can now speak 23 new languages, including Portuguese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese, alongside regional variants of Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch and English for markets including the United States, Canada, Australia, India, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Latin America, France, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Japan.
Siri can now take action in apps
Siri AI gains new actions across Apple's own apps. You can ask it to make and save a playlist, schedule an iMessage to send later, or create a Journal entry, among other tasks in Calendar, Music, Messages, Reminders and Weather. Siri can also take action on tabs and windows in Safari — sorting, moving, closing and arranging them in Tab Groups — and control web history.
Apple is also opening Siri AI to all developers, so any app can connect to it through App Intents. In-app prompts will offer Siri AI support to apps that have not yet adopted it, letting users ask Siri to act inside those apps too. Siri can already see what is on your screen, and Apple says its awareness will soon expand to understand the full content of webpages, including non-active tabs.
A bigger Siri is now a year further away
The new capabilities arrive against a tougher backdrop for Apple's AI plans. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported this week that Apple's planned Siri overhaul is now expected to launch a full year later than originally planned, delaying the biggest redesign of the assistant to a later iOS cycle. Apple has not commented on the timeline.
