Apple may update the iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro in early 2027

Apple could refresh three iPad lines during the first half of 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as reported by MacRumors and PCMag. The reported group covers a new entry-level iPad, an iPad Air and an iPad Pro. Gurman’s reporting also suggests Apple may not introduce another iPad in the second half of 2027, although neither point has been confirmed by Apple.

OLED Air and cooler Pro are unconfirmed

The next iPad Air is reportedly set to gain an OLED display, bringing the panel technology already used on the current iPad Pro to Apple’s midrange tablet line. The next iPad Pro is said to be under development with a vapor-chamber cooling system intended to improve sustained performance. Possible M5 and M6 processor assignments have appeared in secondary reporting, but those chip details are speculation rather than an Apple announcement.

The base model has been linked to an A19 chip, 8GB of memory, Apple’s N1 wireless chip and a C1X modem in cellular versions. Those details reportedly come from code findings and should not be treated as final specifications.

Apple has not announced the new models

Apple’s own product pages confirm that the current lineup includes an M5 iPad Pro, an M4 iPad Air and an A16 iPad. The company has not announced the 2027 products, prices or release dates.
