OnePlus 16 Poll Highlights Import Reluctance Among Interested Readers

Interest in the OnePlus 16 did not automatically translate into a willingness to buy it from overseas in GSMArena's latest weekly poll. Results published on October 25, 2026 showed that nearly a third of respondents were interested in the phone but did not want to import one—the largest group described in the report.

The result highlights an availability barrier among the site's participating readers. It does not establish how the phone would sell across the global smartphone market.

Interest and willingness to import are different questions

GSMArena reported that some voters were considering importing the OnePlus 16, while a larger group preferred not to go through that process. The poll therefore separates enthusiasm for a device from willingness to purchase it through an overseas route.

At the time of the report, India was described as the only official release market besides China, and Indian pricing had not yet been announced. The October 25 results should not be treated as confirmation of local prices or launches in other countries, including the US or Bangladesh.

Price objections were a smaller voting group

Around 12% of participants selected the response describing the price as excessive, according to GSMArena. That was substantially below the nearly one-third group interested in the phone but reluctant to import it.

The report put the Chinese starting price at roughly CNY6,000 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It contrasted that with about CNY5,400 for the previous OnePlus 15's top 16GB/1TB configuration. This is a comparison between different configurations, not a like-for-like entry-model price increase.

What the poll can—and cannot—show

The votes describe choices made by a self-selected group of GSMArena readers. They are not completed purchases, a representative survey of every country's buyers or a forecast of worldwide sales.

The useful finding is narrower than a claim that the OnePlus 16 would certainly become a global hit: among the readers who took part, interest in the phone frequently coexisted with reluctance to obtain it through importing.
