UBS bars outside AI agents from acting for clients, CEO says
UBS is not allowing outside artificial-intelligence agents to enter the bank and act on behalf of clients, Chief Executive Sergio Ermotti said at an event at ETH Zurich.
Boundary for client-facing automation
Ermotti said the bank was not permitting external AI agents to enter UBS on behalf of customers. The remarks set a boundary on outside automated systems acting within the bank for client-related activity.
Credit Suisse integration affected deployment
Integrating Credit Suisse, the rival UBS acquired in 2023, forced the bank to slow its deployment of artificial intelligence somewhat, Ermotti said. He added that UBS can now place even more emphasis on technology.
The Reuters report did not provide further detail on the specific AI systems or projects affected by the integration.
