Nvidia to Invest $3 Billion in Meta as Companies Deepen Muse AI Partnership
Nvidia will invest $3 billion in Meta Platforms' equity offering as the companies deepen their work on Meta's Muse artificial-intelligence assistant and related models. The investment links a major chip supplier more closely to one of its largest customers at a time when Meta is expanding the computing infrastructure behind its AI products.
Closer work on Muse
Meta's Muse models and agents run on Nvidia infrastructure. Under the strengthened partnership, the companies will work more closely to improve performance and reduce costs. Reuters reported that Muse, known internally as Hatch, is central to Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's plan to deliver what he calls “personal superintelligence” to people using Meta's services.
Muse was modeled on the open-source AI agent OpenClaw. It can access a user's email, calendar, payments, health, shopping and smart-home applications. Users can revoke that access, according to the companies' description of the system. Those capabilities put the assistant closer to an action-taking agent than a tool limited to generating text.
Exploratory software cooperation
The companies may also explore more cooperation around Nvidia's OpenShell framework. Possible uses include helping roll out software safely and using a tool called Sentry to monitor how AI agents behave. The wording is prospective: Reuters reported that the companies may explore this work, not that a finalized deployment or commercial agreement has been announced.
Meta increased its equity offering earlier in the day to $97.5 billion, its largest fundraising in company history, as it accelerates investment in AI infrastructure. Nvidia's $3 billion commitment is part of that financing plan. The arrangement also illustrates the close financial and technical ties developing across the AI supply chain, where chipmakers provide the computing platform and technology companies are racing to build consumer-facing agents.
