Perks become selectable

T-Mobile said on October 26 that it will introduce wireless plans allowing customers to choose and swap benefits rather than accepting a fixed bundle attached to a traditional plan tier. The US carrier’s T-Mix plans are scheduled to become available next month.

The offering has three tiers. Standard starts at $55 for one line, More starts at $75 and Loaded starts at $95, according to Reuters. The number of perks depends on the tier and the number of lines. Prices, benefits and availability described here are for T-Mobile’s announced US plans; the report does not establish availability in India, China or Bangladesh.

Entertainment, delivery and AI options

Partnerships named in the report include Apple, DoorDash, Google, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount+, SiriusXM, Xbox and YouTube. Customers may also select benefits such as Delta SkyMiles, ESPN Unlimited, Google Gemini and device promotions.

T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Allan Samson told Reuters that Netflix was the most popular benefit in a pilot launched in early October. Music subscriptions and AI services also attracted interest, he said, while Xbox was popular among younger customers. Pilot demand is an early result and does not predict final enrollment across all plan tiers.

Changing benefits

Customers will generally be able to change selected perks every three months or during an annual change window. Certain wireless benefits, including satellite connectivity, can be changed at any time, Reuters reported.

The move reflects a US carrier market in which competition is expanding beyond network coverage and smartphone promotions. Verizon already offers customizable benefits, according to Reuters. T-Mobile’s bet is that customers will value control over subscriptions they might otherwise buy separately, while the carrier uses the plan structure to compete for spending across mobile, entertainment, delivery and software services.
