iOS 27 Is Finally Here

Apple has officially released iOS 27, moving the iPhone into another major year of software updates after months of beta testing. The update is available for iPhone 11 and newer models, although some of its most advanced Apple Intelligence features require newer iPhones, including the iPhone 15 Pro and later.

While iOS 27 includes plenty of smaller changes, four features stood out during beta testing because they actually change how the iPhone feels to use.

1. Siri AI Is the Biggest Upgrade

The biggest story in iOS 27 is undoubtedly Siri AI. Apple has transformed Siri from a basic voice assistant into a much more conversational AI assistant that can understand context, work with information across your apps and help complete more complicated tasks. You can ask Siri to find a particular photo or email, work with information on your screen, draft text and perform actions across supported apps. Apple is also keeping Siri AI in beta as it continues to expand its capabilities.

The upgrade makes Siri feel much closer to the AI assistants people have become accustomed to using elsewhere. Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri experience where conversations can be revisited, while Visual Intelligence brings similar AI capabilities directly into the Camera experience.

2. AI Photo Editing Gets Much More Useful

Apple's Photos app receives some of the most practical AI improvements in iOS 27. The existing Clean Up tool has been improved, while new Spatial Reframing and Extend tools give users more control over photos after they have been taken. You can change the perspective of an image, expand its boundaries and remove larger unwanted objects.

What makes these tools interesting is that they are designed to be part of the normal Photos workflow rather than requiring a separate editing application. For everyday users who simply want to fix or improve a picture, that could make AI-powered editing considerably more accessible.

3. Liquid Glass Finally Gives Users More Control

iOS 26 introduced Apple's Liquid Glass design language, but iOS 27 gives users more control over how it looks. A new setting lets you adjust the transparency of interface elements, ranging from a more transparent appearance to a more tinted one. Apple has also made refinements aimed at improving readability and contrast.

It may not sound as impressive as an AI assistant, but this is one of those changes users notice every day. If you didn't like how transparent Liquid Glass looked before, iOS 27 gives you a way to make the interface feel more comfortable without completely abandoning Apple's new design.

4. Shortcuts Can Now Be Created With Natural Language

Shortcuts has traditionally been powerful but somewhat intimidating for people who don't want to manually build complicated automations. In iOS 27, Apple makes the process much easier by allowing users to describe what they want in natural language and have AI help create the shortcut. You can then refine or manually edit it if necessary.

This could become one of the most useful features for power users. Instead of figuring out which actions and conditions need to be connected, you can explain the result you want and let the system handle much of the setup.

More Than Just a Visual Update

iOS 27 is not simply another interface refresh. Apple's biggest push this year is clearly toward making AI part of everyday iPhone tasks rather than keeping it as a separate chatbot experience. At the same time, Apple has worked on performance, with the company claiming faster app launches, quicker photo loading and significantly faster AirDrop transfers.

The most important change, however, is Siri AI. It is still labeled beta, and not every feature is available on every iPhone or in every language and region. But if Apple can continue improving the experience, iOS 27 could mark the point where Siri finally becomes a genuinely useful AI assistant rather than simply a voice-command tool.
