Two Pro Pixels, One Core Experience

Google has brought back two different sizes for its flagship Pro series with the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. Unlike some smartphone families where the larger model gets a substantially different camera or processor, Google has kept the two Pixel 11 Pro models remarkably similar under the hood. Both use the same Google Tensor G6 processor and Titan M3 security chip, offer the same memory and storage configurations, and feature the same triple-camera setup. The biggest question is therefore not performance or camera capability, but how large a phone you actually want to carry.

Display: 6.3 Inches vs 6.8 Inches

The most obvious difference is the screen. The Pixel 11 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED display with a 1280 × 2856 resolution, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL moves up to a much larger 6.8-inch panel with a 1344 × 2992 resolution. Both support Google's Smooth Display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness. So the XL does not necessarily give you a better display—it simply gives you considerably more screen real estate for watching videos, gaming, editing photos and multitasking.

Same Camera Hardware

Photography is another area where Google has deliberately avoided creating a major gap between the two models. Both phones feature a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera with Macro Focus and a 48MP 5x telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. Google's Pro Zoom can reach up to 120x, while both phones also support features such as Night Sight, High-Res Portrait Mode, Magic Eraser, Best Take and Google's newer AI-powered camera tools. In other words, choosing the smaller Pixel 11 Pro does not mean giving up the flagship camera system.

Performance Is Essentially the Same

Both smartphones are powered by Google's Tensor G6 chip and Titan M3 security coprocessor. Storage starts at 256GB with 12GB of RAM, while the 512GB and 1TB versions come with 16GB of RAM. Google also says the Tensor G6 brings improvements to CPU performance and on-device AI processing, making the Pixel 11 series heavily focused on Gemini-powered features. Since both Pro models use the same chip and memory configurations, there should be no major performance difference simply because one phone is larger.

Battery and Charging: The XL Has the Edge

This is where the Pixel 11 Pro XL has a meaningful hardware advantage. The standard Pro packs a typical 4,850mAh battery, while the XL increases capacity to 5,115mAh. Both are rated for more than 30 hours of battery life, but charging is also different: Google says the Pixel 11 Pro can reach up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a compatible 30W USB-C PPS charger, while the XL can reach up to 75% in the same time using a compatible 45W charger. Both support Pixelsnap Qi2.2 wireless charging at up to 25W.

Size and Weight

The Pixel 11 Pro is considerably easier to handle because of its smaller footprint. It measures about 152.7 × 71.9 × 8.4mm and weighs 204 grams. The Pixel 11 Pro XL measures about 162.7 × 76.5 × 8.5mm and weighs 226 grams. That 22-gram difference may not sound huge on paper, but it can become noticeable when holding the phone for long periods. The XL is clearly aimed at people who prefer a large-screen flagship, while the regular Pro offers the same flagship experience in a more compact body.

Pixel 11 Pro vs Pixel 11 Pro XL: Key Differences

The two phones therefore deliver much of the same experience. The Pixel 11 Pro XL costs $200 more at launch, with that premium mainly buying you a larger display, a slightly bigger battery and faster wired charging rather than a more powerful processor or better camera system.

Which Pixel 11 Pro Should You Choose?

The Pixel 11 Pro makes more sense for people who want Google's full Pro experience without carrying a very large phone. It has the same Tensor G6 chip, camera hardware, AI features and storage options as the XL while being lighter and easier to handle. The Pixel 11 Pro XL is built for users who prioritize screen size and battery capacity and do not mind the additional weight or higher price.

Ultimately, this is less of a traditional “Pro vs Pro XL” performance battle and more of a choice between compact flagship convenience and large-screen flagship comfort. Google has made the two phones remarkably close in capability, so the decision largely comes down to your preferred size, battery needs and budget rather than sacrificing major features by choosing the smaller model.
