Galaxy A38 Leak Points to a Big 6,000mAh Battery — Finally an Upgrade
Samsung's next mid-range phone could finally fix its biggest weakness. A new leak points to a 6,000mAh battery in the Galaxy A38 — 20% bigger than the A37's — while the cameras reportedly stay the same.
Galaxy A38 Leak Points to a Big 6,000mAh Battery — Finally an Upgrade
Samsung's Galaxy A37 arrived back in March, and word so far has been that its successor would be a quiet refresh — same cameras, little else changed. A new report from the same source now says the Galaxy A38 will get an upgrade after all, just in a different place: the battery.
The phone is said to carry a battery with a rated capacity of 5,882mAh, which should work out to a typical capacity of 6,000mAh. That is 20% more than the 5,000mAh battery in the A37, and it would reportedly be the biggest battery ever fitted to a Galaxy A phone sold in Europe. It is not expected to be a silicon-carbon battery, though.
Same cameras, third time running
Apart from the battery, the A38 is shaping up to be a minor update. It is rumoured to keep the same camera setup as before: a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro and a 12MP selfie camera. That would make it the third model in a row with this exact combination, after the Galaxy A36 and the A37.
What about the Galaxy A58?
It is still unclear whether the Galaxy A58 will get the same battery upgrade. It seems quite likely, and it would not be surprising if Samsung used the exact same cell in both phones — but that has not been confirmed yet. The two phones are expected to launch together sometime in March or April.
The price keeps climbing
One thing that does look likely to keep moving is the price. The Galaxy A36 started at €379 in Europe, and the A37 launched at €429 before its recommended price was seemingly raised to €469. On that trend, the A38 could end up even closer to €500.
