Oppo Reno17 Series Gets a November 9 China Launch Date — and Blind Pre-Orders Are Already Open
Oppo has ended the wait for its next Reno phones. The company has officially confirmed that the Reno17 series will launch in China on November 9, and the phones will be available in stores on the very same day, so buyers will be able to see them in person straight away. Blind pre-orders for the Reno17 and the Reno17 Pro are already open.
Until now, the series had only existed in rumours and teasers. The confirmation, shared by Oppo on Weibo, is the first official word on when the new phones will arrive, and it keeps Oppo's familiar pattern going — this is the second Reno upgrade of the year, following the biannual refresh cycle the company has maintained for years.
Two models confirmed for launch day
Two models are named in the announcement: the standard Oppo Reno17 and the Oppo Reno17 Pro. No other models have been mentioned, and Oppo has not yet shared prices, colours, or full specifications for either phone. The launch confirmed so far covers China only.
For buyers outside China, the wait continues. The phones are expected to arrive globally in time for the holiday season, but that is an expectation rather than a confirmed date, and Oppo has not announced any international launch plans yet.
What the rumours say about cameras and batteries
While the launch date is now official, most of what is known about the phones themselves is still rumour. Both devices are tipped to feature a 200MP camera on the back, likely as the main shooter, which would be a major step up in resolution for the Reno line if it proves true.
Battery life is also tipped to improve. The Reno17 is expected to come with an 8,000mAh battery, while the Pro is said to settle for a smaller 7,200mAh unit, since it is the smaller of the two devices. Neither figure has been confirmed by Oppo.
A separate report adds another possibility: Oppo may have changed the design of the new phones, and they might be compatible with the Hasselblad teleconverter kit that arrived with the Find X10 series last month. That, too, remains unconfirmed, and it is not clear whether the kit would work with both models or only one of them.
With the launch less than a week away, the remaining details should not stay secret for long. The November 9 event in China is where Oppo is expected to fill in the gaps — specifications, prices, and whether the global rollout follows soon after.
