Apple Says iPhone Duo Supply Is Still Constrained, With No Clear End Date

Apple Says iPhone Duo Supply Is Still Constrained, With No Clear End Date

Apple’s first foldable iPhone remains difficult to obtain, according to CEO John Ternus’s comments to Reuters, reported by MacRumors after the company’s September-quarter results. Ternus said the iPhone Duo was “constrained as of today” and that Apple could not predict when supply and demand would be in balance.

Apple’s official results release confirms that the iPhone Duo was part of its holiday lineup, but it does not provide a shortage estimate or an expected date for supply to catch up. The release reports September-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% year over year. Because the phone went on sale after that quarter ended, those results do not include iPhone Duo sales.

Launch details and what remains unconfirmed

Apple announced the iPhone Duo on September 9, with preorders scheduled for October 16 and retail availability beginning October 23. The company describes it as its first foldable iPhone, with a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display.

The shortage comments indicate that demand is currently ahead of supply, but Apple has not publicly stated how many units are affected or when the gap will close. Reports of January delivery estimates and a claimed 44% production increase come from secondary reporting and should not be treated as Apple-confirmed figures.
