US Stocks Await October Jobs Report as Revelio Estimates 26,000 New Jobs
Pre-release update — November 6, 2026. Wall Street's next scheduled economic test is the official October U.S. employment report, due Friday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Ahead of that release, a new estimate from workforce-data provider Revelio Labs points to modest job creation and softer demand for workers.
Revelio's October report, released November 5, estimates that U.S. nonfarm employment increased by approximately 26,000 jobs. That is a private estimate, not the government's payroll result. The Bureau of Labor Statistics report had not yet been released when this update was prepared.
What the fresh labor-market estimate shows
October marked the third consecutive monthly employment increase in Revelio's series. Health Care and Social Assistance, Retail Trade and Public Administration contributed the most to gains. Leisure and Hospitality, Information, and Professional and Business Services recorded the largest declines.
The broader hiring picture remained subdued. Active job postings fell 2.4% to about 18.4 million, although they remained 1.1% above their level a year earlier. Hiring and attrition rates edged up to 20.9% and 20.7%, respectively, but Revelio said both remained near historical lows. Together, those measures point to limited labor-market turnover rather than a broad hiring surge.
Why the official report still matters
Revelio says its Public Labor Statistics series draws on more than 100 million U.S. profiles. Its data source and methodology differ from the government's employment surveys, so the 26,000 estimate should not be treated as a substitute for, or a confirmed prediction of, the BLS number.
The official BLS release calendar lists the October Employment Situation for November 6 at 8:30 a.m. ET. In its October 30 week-ahead coverage, CNBC cited FactSet forecasts for 55,000 additional jobs and a 4.2% unemployment rate. Those figures were pre-release expectations, not reported results.
What this means for the U.S. stock-market outlook
The key question for investors is whether the official figures confirm a sluggish hiring backdrop or show greater resilience. Employment data can influence expectations for consumer demand, corporate earnings and interest rates, but the market response is not automatic: weaker hiring can ease policy concerns while also raising worries about growth.
For now, the verified new development is Revelio's modest October employment estimate and the approaching government release. It is too early to report a Friday stock-market reaction to data that have not yet been published. The official payroll and unemployment figures will provide the next confirmed update.
