HONOR Magic9 Series Arrives With 200MP Cameras and an 11,000mAh Super Edition
HONOR has officially unveiled the Magic9 and Magic9 Super Edition in China, bringing a surprisingly ambitious combination of flagship performance, high-resolution cameras and enormous batteries to its latest Magic-series lineup. The two phones take different approaches: the standard Magic9 is a relatively compact flagship with an 8,000mAh battery, while the Magic9 Super Edition goes much further with an 11,000mAh cell and built-in active cooling.
Both models are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, putting them firmly in flagship territory. The Magic9 also introduces a particularly unusual camera configuration with a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, while the Super Edition combines a 200MP main sensor with a 50MP 3x telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide camera.
HONOR Magic9: Compact Size, Serious Hardware
The standard HONOR Magic9 is arguably the more unusual of the two because it combines a relatively small 6.37-inch OLED display with an enormous 8,000mAh battery. The panel has a 2664 × 1236 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color and HDR support, with a peak global brightness of 2,000 nits.
The display is not an LTPO panel, but HONOR has included 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and support for brightness as low as 1 nit. Dolby Vision is also supported on the standard Magic9, making the phone particularly interesting for users who prefer a smaller flagship without sacrificing display quality.
Dual 200MP Cameras Take Center Stage
Photography is one of the biggest highlights of the Magic9. Its rear system starts with a 200MP main camera using a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, an f/1.9 aperture and CIPA 7.5 stabilization. Even more unusual is the telephoto camera: HONOR has fitted the phone with another 200MP sensor, this time in a periscope configuration with a 1/1.56-inch sensor.
A 50MP ultra-wide camera completes the rear setup, while the front camera uses a 55MP sensor. HONOR has also worked with German cinema-camera manufacturer ARRI on imaging technology for the Magic9 series, with the HONOR H1 imaging chip handling computational photography tasks such as noise reduction and other image-processing workloads.
The Magic9 additionally supports HONOR's G200 teleconverter, giving the camera system an option for significantly greater optical reach when used with the compatible accessory. This makes the phone's camera approach quite different from the typical flagship formula of using a relatively small telephoto sensor alongside a high-resolution main camera.
Magic9 Super Edition: The Battery Monster
The HONOR Magic9 Super Edition takes a completely different route. Its headline feature is an enormous 11,000mAh battery, making it one of the most battery-focused flagship smartphones on the market.
The battery supports 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse wired charging. HONOR's official specifications list a typical capacity of 11,000mAh and a rated capacity of 10,690mAh. Wireless reverse charging is also supported.
Despite that enormous battery, the Super Edition is only 8.1mm thick and weighs approximately 227 grams. That is a notable engineering achievement given the battery capacity, although it is still considerably larger than the compact Magic9.
Built-In 30,000rpm Cooling Fan
Perhaps the strangest feature of the Super Edition is hidden inside the phone rather than on its specification sheet.
HONOR has equipped it with an active cooling fan capable of spinning at 30,000rpm. The cooling system works alongside a large vapor chamber to help dissipate heat from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 during sustained workloads. According to HONOR's reported specifications and launch information, the system is designed to dissipate up to 12W of heat.
That makes the Super Edition particularly interesting for demanding gaming and other sustained workloads. Instead of relying exclusively on passive cooling, HONOR has effectively turned the smartphone into a miniature actively cooled computer.
The approach also shows where the company sees the biggest challenge with modern flagship processors: peak performance is increasingly easy to achieve for short periods, but maintaining that performance without excessive heat is much harder.
Large 6.81-Inch OLED Display
The Super Edition uses a much larger 6.81-inch OLED display with a 2788 × 1280 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color. The panel supports HDR and offers a 2,000-nit global peak brightness, while HONOR's Chinese specification page lists a 10,000-nit peak brightness figure under specific conditions.
Unlike the standard Magic9, the Super Edition's display does not list Dolby Vision support. It does, however, include 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and a range of eye-comfort features.
Super Edition Camera Setup
The Super Edition's camera hardware is different from the standard Magic9. It uses a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.55-inch sensor, OIS and an f/1.9 aperture. The main camera is accompanied by a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, plus a 12MP autofocus ultra-wide/macro camera.
For video recording, the rear camera can record 4K video at up to 120fps, while the front camera supports 4K recording at up to 60fps. The selfie camera uses a 50MP sensor.
This makes the Super Edition's camera system more conventional than the standard Magic9's dual-200MP setup, but it still offers an unusually high-resolution main camera and flagship-grade video capabilities.
Flagship Performance With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Both phones are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with LPDDR5X memory. The Super Edition is available with configurations reaching 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, while HONOR's official specification page lists 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB and 16GB/512GB variants.
The Super Edition's active cooling gives the chipset an additional advantage during sustained workloads. In theory, the cooling system should help reduce thermal throttling during extended gaming or other processor-intensive tasks, although actual performance will depend on software, ambient temperature and workload.
HONOR also ships the Super Edition with MagicOS 11 based on Android 17, bringing the company's latest AI features and system-level functions to the device.
HONOR Magic9 and Super Edition Price
In China, the HONOR Magic9 starts at CNY 5,000, while the Magic9 Super Edition starts at CNY 4,500 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. That makes the Super Edition particularly interesting because it actually starts below the standard Magic9 despite offering the larger battery and active cooling system.
These are Chinese launch prices and should not be treated as official Bangladesh prices. HONOR has not yet confirmed Bangladesh pricing or a local launch schedule for these models, so any unofficial local-market price should be viewed cautiously.
HONOR Magic9 vs Magic9 Super Edition
The two smartphones are designed for different types of flagship buyers. The Magic9 is the more compact option, with a 6.37-inch display, 8,000mAh battery and an unusually powerful dual-200MP camera system.
The Super Edition goes in the opposite direction. It has a 6.81-inch display, 11,000mAh battery, active cooling, a 30,000rpm fan and a more conventional 200MP + 50MP + 12MP camera arrangement. It is essentially a flagship built around endurance and sustained performance rather than compactness.
That distinction makes the Super Edition particularly compelling for people who prioritize battery life and long gaming sessions, while the standard Magic9 may appeal more to users who want flagship hardware in a smaller body.
Our Verdict: HONOR Is Trying Something Different
The Magic9 series is interesting because HONOR is not simply increasing processor performance and camera megapixels and calling it a new flagship. The company is experimenting with the physical design of the smartphone itself.
The standard Magic9 combines a compact body with an 8,000mAh battery and two 200MP cameras. The Super Edition goes even further by putting an 11,000mAh battery and active 30,000rpm cooling system into a phone that remains only 8.1mm thick.
There are still questions that only extended real-world testing can answer, particularly around battery endurance, fan noise, sustained gaming performance, camera quality and long-term thermal behavior. But on specifications alone, the Magic9 Super Edition is one of the most unconventional flagship smartphones of 2026.
With the Magic9, Super Edition and the separately launched Magic9 Pro Max forming the latest Magic lineup, HONOR is clearly trying to differentiate its flagship phones through more than just raw specifications. The combination of large batteries, high-resolution imaging and specialized cooling makes the Magic9 generation one of the company's most technically ambitious smartphone releases yet.
