vivo X Fold6 Is Coming to India, and vivo Is Teasing a Bigger Mixed-Reality Move
vivo has officially teased the X Fold6 for the Indian market, confirming that the foldable will be part of its vivo NEXT 2026 event on October 6. The same teaser also shows a mixed-reality headset, hinting that vivo could be preparing to expand its MR ambitions beyond China.
vivo X Fold6 Is Finally Coming to India—and There Is More Than a Foldable Phone in the Teaser
vivo has officially teased the X Fold6 for the Indian market, turning what had been a reported launch date into a confirmed part of the company's upcoming vivo NEXT 2026 event. But the foldable is not the only interesting product appearing in the teaser. Alongside the X Fold6, vivo has also shown a mixed-reality headset, suggesting that the company could use the event to make a much bigger statement about its ambitions beyond smartphones.
The announcement comes just days before the event. vivo India has scheduled vivo NEXT 2026 for October 6 at 12 PM IST, where the company is already expected to introduce the V80 and S2 FE. The latest teaser now adds the X Fold6 to the lineup, while the appearance of the MR headset creates another major question: is vivo finally preparing to take its Vision mixed-reality hardware into the Indian market?
The X Fold6 Gets Its Indian Debut
vivo's latest teaser leaves little doubt about the foldable. The X Fold6 is clearly visible in the promotional video, shown in the Nebula Teal finish. The company has not yet confirmed whether other colors will be available in India, but the teaser establishes that the X Fold6 will be part of the October 6 presentation.
That is significant because the X Fold6 has already debuted in China and subsequently reached international markets. India will now become another important destination for vivo's latest book-style foldable, giving the company an opportunity to compete in a premium category where Samsung and several Chinese manufacturers have already established strong positions.
vivo has not yet published the complete Indian specification sheet or official Indian pricing. That means some specifications reported for the Chinese model should not automatically be treated as final Indian specifications until the company makes the details official.
A Foldable With Flagship-Level Hardware
The Chinese version of the X Fold6 is equipped with an 8.02-inch foldable AMOLED inner display and a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover screen, with both panels supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super chipset and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage in its Chinese configuration.
Photography is another major focus. The Chinese model carries a Zeiss-tuned triple-camera system consisting of a 200MP primary camera, 50MP ultrawide camera and 50MP periscope telephoto camera. There are also 20MP cameras on both the inner and outer displays.
The battery is equally notable for a foldable. The X Fold6 packs a 7,000mAh battery, with support for 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. The combination gives vivo a strong hardware package on paper, although the exact configuration and pricing for India remain something buyers should wait for the official announcement to confirm.
The Real Surprise Is Sitting Beside the Phone
While the X Fold6 is the obvious star of the teaser, the mixed-reality headset may ultimately be the more interesting part of vivo's announcement.
A headset can be seen alongside the smartphones in the promotional material, but vivo has not yet said exactly what product it is or whether it will actually be sold in India. GSMArena reports that the headset could be related to the company's vivo Vision Explorer Edition, but that identification remains speculation until vivo officially confirms it.
There is, however, a solid reason the headset's appearance is attracting attention. vivo has already demonstrated that mixed reality is part of its longer-term technology strategy.
vivo Has Already Entered the Mixed-Reality Race
vivo officially introduced its first mixed-reality headset, vivo Vision, in 2025. The company presented it as part of a broader push into AI, spatial computing and next-generation devices. vivo has also established a Robotics Lab, with the company describing MR and spatial computing as technologies that could help connect smartphones, AI and future consumer robotics.
That makes the Indian teaser more than a random appearance of an unfamiliar gadget. vivo has been building a wider technology ecosystem around imaging, AI and spatial computing, and the Vision headset is one of the clearest examples of that strategy.
The unanswered question is whether India will be the next market where consumers can actually buy the headset—or whether vivo will simply demonstrate the technology during the event.
India Launch Could Be Bigger Than a Single Foldable
The timing also makes the event particularly interesting. vivo had already confirmed the V80 and S2 FE for October 6, meaning the X Fold6 now adds a premium foldable to the same presentation. The MR headset, meanwhile, could provide a glimpse of where vivo wants its product ecosystem to go next.
This gives vivo NEXT 2026 a much broader scope than a conventional smartphone launch. Instead of focusing on one product category, vivo appears ready to showcase devices spanning mainstream smartphones, premium foldables and potentially mixed reality.
For the Indian market, the X Fold6 could be particularly important because premium foldables are still a relatively small but rapidly evolving segment. A competitive price, strong cameras and a large battery could make vivo's latest foldable a serious alternative to established rivals.
What We Still Don't Know
Despite the teaser, several important details remain unanswered. Indian pricing, exact RAM and storage configurations, color options, availability and the final software package have not yet been fully confirmed by vivo India.
Earlier reports suggested that the Indian X Fold6 could arrive in 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB configurations, with Prism Black and Nebula Teal color options. Those details were based on reports and should therefore be treated as unconfirmed until vivo publishes its official specifications.
The same caution applies to the MR headset. Its appearance in the teaser confirms that vivo wants viewers to notice it, but it does not by itself confirm an Indian commercial launch.
October 6 Could Reveal vivo's Bigger Ambition
The X Fold6 is already an impressive piece of hardware, but the larger story may be vivo's attempt to position itself as more than a smartphone manufacturer. The company's investment in mixed reality, AI, imaging and robotics points toward an ecosystem strategy in which the smartphone becomes one component of a broader collection of intelligent devices.
For now, the immediate focus is on the X Fold6. vivo has confirmed its presence at vivo NEXT 2026 on October 6, and the event should finally settle the questions surrounding its Indian configuration and pricing.
But if that mysterious headset also receives a proper Indian introduction, vivo's October 6 event could become considerably more important than a typical smartphone launch. The X Fold6 may be the product everyone came to see, while vivo Vision could be the device that reveals where the company intends to go next.
