OpenAI Takes ChatGPT Ads to 26 More Countries, Including Bangladesh

OpenAI is widening the footprint of ChatGPT advertising by 26 countries, taking availability to 89 markets as it builds an advertising business alongside subscriptions to its AI platform.

Bangladesh joins the new markets

The company said the rollout adds 14 Latin American countries beyond Mexico and Brazil, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. The expansion also reaches markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, including Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Advertisers in the new markets can buy through technology partners or use OpenAI’s self-service Ads Manager. OpenAI said more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since advertising launched. Reuters reported that the company put the business at a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate in August—a company-reported measure, not a full year of booked revenue.

Which ChatGPT users will see ads?

Ads are appearing only on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans. OpenAI says Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions will remain ad-free. The company also says ads are labeled and kept separate from ChatGPT answers, and that advertisers cannot access conversations or buy customer data.

Availability in a new market does not mean every eligible user will immediately see an ad. OpenAI says it plans to develop additional formats, buying options and measurement capabilities as its advertising system grows.
