Southeast Asia’s total digital sales volume is expected to rise 17% to $368 billion in 2026, according to the annual e-Conomy SEA report from Google, Temasek and Bain & Company. The measure is gross merchandise value, or the value of goods and services sold through digital platforms.
The report forecasts 13% annual growth through 2035, when the region’s digital GMV could reach $1.14 trillion. It also recorded $21 billion in digital-economy funding during the first half of 2026, compared with $11 billion for all of 2025.
Two large data-centre deals accounted for much of the funding increase, while built data-centre capacity rose to 5.8 gigawatts from 4 gigawatts at the end of 2025. The report said AI adoption still lagged the US and Europe on its tokens-per-capita measure.
The primary report site describes the study as a joint Google, Temasek and Bain project tracking the region’s digital transformation.
