Redmi K100 Gets a 50MP Main Camera and Ultrasonic Fingerprint Reader

Redmi’s next K-series phone is taking shape beyond its unusually large battery. New details reported by GSMArena identify a 50MP main camera, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader and IP68 dust and water resistance for the Redmi K100 ahead of its China debut.

The main camera uses a Light and Shadow Hunter 800 sensor measuring 1/1.55 inches, paired with an f/1.68 aperture. Redmi is showing a dual-camera rear design, although the report does not specify the second camera’s resolution or role. Buyers will have to wait for fuller camera details and independent testing before judging image quality.

More than a battery-focused specification sheet

The company has also detailed symmetrical dual speakers, seven antennas and an 0815 X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback. Those additions broaden the phone’s pitch to gaming and everyday media use, rather than making battery capacity its only selling point. The antenna count alone, however, does not establish how well reception will perform in real-world conditions.

Previously disclosed hardware includes a 10,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging and a 6.83-inch AMOLED display. Charging wattage is a supported peak specification, not a measured full-charge time, and there are no independent endurance results in this announcement.

China availability comes first

The K100 is being shown in three colors, including Firefly Green, with pre-orders already open through Xiaomi’s Chinese website. The latest camera update does not establish international pricing or release plans for India, the US or Bangladesh.

Redmi’s official Weibo announcement sets the China launch for October 27 at 7 p.m. China time. That primary-source date takes precedence over the conflicting October 26 and October 28 dates in GSMArena’s reports.
