Qualcomm plans global job cuts after annual performance reviews
Qualcomm will cut jobs worldwide after its annual employee reviews, CEO Cristiano Amon said in a memo reviewed by Reuters. Notifications are expected to begin in November.
Amon described the move as a “performance-focused reduction” intended to build a stronger performance culture and address areas where the company has fallen short. The memo did not specify how many positions would be affected.
Qualcomm had about 52,000 employees globally as of September last year, most of them full-time. The company has faced weaker consumer-electronics demand as high memory prices weigh on some markets.
Reuters also reported that Qualcomm’s latest quarterly outlook included a below-estimate profit forecast and faster-than-expected decline in revenue from Apple products. The company expects data-centre and other non-handset businesses to offset that pressure by fiscal 2027.
The memo also said business priorities, organisational needs, skills and expertise would be considered. Qualcomm did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment, so the timing is clearer than the eventual scale of the reduction.
