Micron Taiwan union sets October 22 strike over bonuses
A union representing Micron Technology workers in Taoyuan, Taiwan, says it will launch a one-day strike on October 22 over employee bonuses and profit sharing.
The stoppage coincides with mediation between Micron and a separate union at Taichung, its largest Taiwan operation. The Taoyuan union wants a concrete offer for this year’s one-off bonus and a transparent, predictable future profit-sharing formula.
Micron said it respects workers’ legal rights and remains committed to good-faith negotiations. The Taoyuan union called the action a warning strike and said it could sign an agreement if the company made an acceptable proposal.
The dispute also matters to AI infrastructure because the Taiwan operations produce DRAM and high-bandwidth memory used in AI servers. Reuters said immediate production impact was unclear, but prolonged disruption could tighten supplies. Micron says it employs about 15,000 people in Taiwan.
