Pyongyang issues border warning

Kim Yo Jong said loudspeakers would be put on standby along the entire border within days and warned of retaliation if Seoul’s actions harmed North Korean territory or personnel.

Seoul urges talks

South Korea called its warning shots defensive, urged dialogue and promised proportionate measures. Reuters’ 22 October report was updated with Seoul’s response; immediate activation was not established.
