Apple is warning that iPhone Duo walk-in stock will be scarce on October 23, with pickup reservations required in India, China and several other markets.
iPhone Duo Launch-Day Walk-In Stock Will Be Limited, Apple Warns
Buying an iPhone Duo on its October 23 launch day will take more than turning up at an Apple Store. Apple has warned of limited walk-in availability, according to GSMArena, while customers in several major markets will need an online pickup reservation instead.
The restrictions make local store rules especially important for anyone planning to queue. Availability in one country does not mean a store elsewhere will sell the phone without a reservation, and limited stock is not a promise that a particular configuration will be on the shelf.
Different rules for different markets
GSMArena reports that limited walk-in stock will be offered in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the UK. Selected stores in Italy will also have some inventory. In Macao, walk-in sales are restricted to launch day and supplies will be limited.
France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE will not offer launch-day walk-in purchases, the report says. Buyers in those markets must arrange a pickup slot through Apple’s online store. At the time of the report, the store directed customers to check again on October 24; that message does not guarantee inventory will become available then.
A reservation matters more than a place in line
Earlier reporting by 9to5Mac, citing MacRumors and Apple Store employees, said staff had been told to discourage customers without pre-orders from expecting a launch-day purchase. The newer country-by-country information indicates that the position is not identical everywhere, but the practical warning remains: arriving early cannot overcome a store’s reservation requirement or lack of stock.
Apple’s official pre-order announcement confirms that orders opened on October 16 and describes online delivery and scheduled store pickup options. The company has not published store-by-store inventory totals in the sources reviewed here.
For buyers in Bangladesh, the cited availability list does not establish an official local launch or price. Anyone considering an imported unit should check the seller’s actual stock and delivery terms rather than assume another country’s launch arrangements apply locally.
