Protective coatings become a growth market
Data-center builders are using gray coatings over concrete and steel for fire, rust and static protection. PPG says its Steelguard 951 product has become a flagship data-center coating and expects sales to triple this year from last year. The company’s overall sales grew 7% to $4.5 billion in the latest quarter, illustrating how sharply the data-center segment is outpacing the wider business.
