Amazon plans more than €16 billion investment in Germany for 2027
Amazon plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027, expanding cloud, AI, satellite internet and media operations. Announced at the Invest in Germany Summit, the package includes €4.8 billion for AWS’s Frankfurt region and AI infrastructure.
It also covers logistics projects expected to create more than 3,000 jobs, the Amazon Leo satellite network, Prime Video productions and a second robotics and AI research lab in Berlin. Amazon says its cumulative German investment has exceeded €100 billion since 2010.
The spending comes as cloud providers add AI capacity and Germany seeks technology investment despite high costs and slow industrial growth. The package combines several lines of business, so it is not an AWS-only data-centre commitment.
For Germany, the cloud portion is the most directly relevant to digital infrastructure, while the wider package shows how large technology companies increasingly combine data centres with logistics, research and content investments.
