Oura Sues Ultrahuman Again Over Ring Pro Patent Claims
Oura has filed another patent lawsuit against Ultrahuman in the United States, this time targeting the redesigned Ultrahuman Ring Pro. The complaint names Ultrahuman and Texas-based manufacturer SVTronics as defendants and asks for monetary damages and an order that would block Ring Pro sales in the US.
What Oura alleges
According to Oura’s statement and reporting by TechCrunch, the complaint asserts that the Ring Pro infringes two patents related to the smart ring’s design and internal components, including elements such as the battery and sensors. The patents identified in the reporting are D804,471 and 12,769,363. The latter was issued on October 20, two days before Oura filed the new complaint.
Oura says the action follows a 2025 US International Trade Commission finding involving Ultrahuman’s earlier Ring Air. That dispute led to an import ban on the earlier product and was separate from the patents cited in the new case. Oura argues that Ultrahuman’s redesign did not resolve all of its patent concerns.
Ultrahuman disputes the claims
Ultrahuman has said the Ring Pro was redesigned to address the earlier dispute and has pointed to a favorable US Customs and Border Protection decision. CEO Mohit Kumar told TechCrunch that the company will defend its position and said there is no court order affecting Ring Pro sales. Ultrahuman said Ring Pro sales were continuing as the new case began.
The filing represents Oura’s allegations, not a final judgment that the Ring Pro infringes the newly asserted patents. Any sales injunction, damages award or other remedy would depend on later court proceedings.
