Galaxy Z Fold8 US deal puts it $300 below the iPhone Duo

The Galaxy Z Fold8 has a price advantage in the US as Apple’s first foldable iPhone reaches buyers. GSMArena’s October 23 deal report highlights an unlocked 256GB Fold8 offer around $1,700, compared with the iPhone Duo’s $2,000 starting price.

CNET’s deals guide also lists Amazon and Best Buy offers around that level. The advertised $300 gap is a comparison between those US retail offers and Apple’s entry price, not a promise that every seller, configuration or country has the same difference.

Compare the actual checkout offer

The cited offers concern unlocked phones rather than a headline carrier credit spread across a service contract. Even so, buyers should check the storage option, seller, stock and final checkout amount before ordering. Tax, optional protection and other charges can change the total.

Samsung’s own store promotions are separate from the retailer offers. Its available direct discounts, trade-in arrangements and bundles should not be assumed to have identical terms to an Amazon or Best Buy listing.

Different hardware, not just different prices

Samsung’s published specifications list a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner folding display, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The Fold8 weighs 201 grams. Apple lists a 5.4-inch outer screen, 7.6-inch inner display and 254-gram weight for the Duo.

The Fold8’s rear camera system uses two 50MP cameras, while Apple lists 48MP main and ultrawide cameras. Those figures do not establish which phone takes better pictures: camera processing, lenses and real-world testing matter beyond resolution.

A US offer, not a worldwide price cut

The lower advertised price gives US buyers another option as the Duo begins shipping, but price alone does not decide between the two platforms. Software preferences, service support, app behavior on the folding screen and the size of each device remain practical considerations.

The consulted listings do not establish matching offers in India, China or Bangladesh. Buyers outside the US should compare their own authorized retail prices and warranty terms rather than treating the dollar offer as a confirmed local discount.
